The Mabouias became the first fully 3D-printed high-top sneakers released at scale—and a milestone in design history. Now, Isak and his team are developing a slide version of the Mabouias for the next chapter in the journey. The Mabouias are inspired by the West African lizard species of the same name. Isak first encountered them in the Ivory Coast and later found microscope images of the scales on their feet — which became the reference for the biomimetic sole design. Built as a high-top from the start, the Mabouias reflect Isak’s love for bold, structured silhouettes that carry weight both visually and culturally.
